The Adult Discipleship ministry at Northside Church offers Sunday School classes, Bible Studies and spiritual formation opportunities for adults at every stage of their journey with Christ. Our goal is to present a comprehensive education program that allows all members to grow as a disciple of Christ. We encourage and appreciate lots of questions!
Adult Discipleship classes not only offer an outlet for deeper study in a particular area, but also the chance to get to know other members within a more intimate environment. Studying and learning together allows us to share our thoughts on God, the Bible and our spiritual journeys, while also learning from each other’s experiences.
Director, Adult Discipleship
Growing up in Oklahoma, James felt a call to serve the church at a very young age, and has done so his entire adult life. After graduating from Southern Nazarene University with a B.A. in theology, he attended seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University – and other than a few years in Oxford, MS working with students at Ole Miss, he has made Atlanta his home ever since. Teaching the Bible and theology is his passion, and he loves nothing more than to share a cup of coffee and a conversation on matters of the faith. His amazing wife, Candace Johnson, serves as Children’s Minister at another United Methodist congregation in the Atlanta Metro area, and they have recently welcomed a little bundle of joy – though perhaps not peace – into their family, their daughter Kifer.
